Dongsheng Carpet Group recently took part in the 2026 Carpet Industry Technical Exchange Meeting in Shenzhen, Guangdong, held from July 28 to 31 under the theme "Refining Testing Practice, Building Quality Carpets Together." As a member company of the Carpet Professional Committee of the China Arts and Crafts Association, Dongsheng joined carpet manufacturers, material suppliers and other industry professionals to exchange practical knowledge on carpet quality testing, laboratory management and the implementation of industry standards.
Dongsheng was represented by Fan Guiling, Group Vice President of Production, and Zhang Xiaohua from the quality inspection team. Their participation reflects an important principle behind our manufacturing work: carpet quality is not a one-time inspection at the end of production. It is built through standards, trained people, controlled processes and consistent testing. From standards to practical carpet quality testing
A major focus of the technical exchange was the interpretation and application of updated Chinese standards related to flooring and carpet performance. Sessions covered GB 8624-2025, Classification for Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products; GB 11785-2026, the radiant heat source method for measuring the burning behavior of flooring materials; and GB 18586-2026, concerning limits for harmful substances in indoor decoration materials including carpets and carpet underlays.
The program also moved beyond standard clauses into day-to-day laboratory practice. Topics included first-party laboratory management, quality manuals, work instructions, implementation rules and quality supervision across personnel, equipment, materials, methods, environment and measurement. Technical discussions addressed tests that matter directly to carpet performance, including appearance retention, tuft withdrawal force, color fastness, backing peel strength, static and dynamic loading, flammability and material composition.
For commercial carpet buyers, these subjects are closely connected to real project concerns. A specification on paper has to be supported by controlled materials, appropriate test methods and a production team that understands what the requirement means. Appearance retention and loading tests relate to how flooring responds to use; tuft withdrawal and backing peel strength help evaluate construction integrity; color fastness supports appearance consistency; and flammability and composition testing relate to safety and material verification. By following these technical discussions, Dongsheng's production and quality teams can better connect customer specifications with the checks carried out during manufacturing and quality inspection.
Learning through hands-on industry exchange
Participants also visited the Shenzhen Institute of Metrology and Quality Inspection for on-site technical exchange, observing procedures and key points involved in important carpet tests. This connection between standards and real testing practice is especially valuable: a written requirement only becomes meaningful when it can be translated into repeatable laboratory procedures and reliable quality decisions.
