ISO 9001: Managing Quality Consistently
ISO 9001 is a quality-management-system standard, not a quality grade for a single carpet. Dongsheng Carpet holds an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certificate covering the production of woven carpets. That wording matters: the supplied certificate does not, by itself, extend to printed carpet, tufted carpet or every product category.
For an international buyer, a structured quality system may support documented production procedures, defined quality-control responsibilities, control of nonconforming output, corrective action, continual improvement and more organized communication and traceability. ISO describes ISO 9001 as a framework for establishing, maintaining and continually improving a quality management system.[3]
ISO 9001 does not mean that every carpet will be completely free of defects. It shows that the manufacturer operates a structured quality-management system within the certified scope.

ISO 14001: Managing Environmental Impact
Dongsheng Carpet holds an environmental management system certificate to GB/T 24001-2016 / ISO 14001:2015, covering the production of woven carpets. An environmental management system can address resource and energy use, production waste, environmental risks, pollution-prevention procedures, objectives, monitoring and continual improvement, according to the organization's context and significant environmental aspects.
Common misunderstanding. ISO 14001 does not automatically mean that every carpet is recycled, carbon-neutral, chemical-free or certified as an environmentally friendly product. The supplied certificate does not provide Dongsheng-specific percentages for water, energy, waste or emissions, so no such figures should be invented.

ISO 45001: Managing Occupational Health and Safety
ISO 45001 focuses on workplace hazard identification, accident prevention, worker health and safety, emergency preparedness, participation, performance review and continual improvement. Dongsheng Carpet holds an ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety management system certificate covering the production of woven carpets.
This is about responsible factory operation, not carpet chemistry. ISO 45001 is not an indoor-air-quality test and does not prove that a carpet is free from harmful substances. It can still be relevant in supplier assessments because worker protection, production continuity and systematic risk control increasingly form part of international sourcing reviews. ISO describes the standard as a framework for managing OH&S risks and improving performance.[5]
Bfl-s1: What Does a Carpet Fire Classification Mean?
EN 13501-1 is a European classification standard for the reaction to fire of construction products and building elements. For floor coverings, the letters are followed by "fl" for flooring. Bfl describes a reaction-to-fire class for flooring, while s1 is the lower-smoke category within the applicable smoke classification. Bfl is not the top step on the flooring ladder: A1fl and A2fl sit above it.[6]

Scope matters. The report applies to the tested sample and the conditions stated in the report. The classification was reported for specific end-use conditions, including substrates classified A1 or A2, mechanical fixing and no joint in the specimen. The report also states that its results are not the sole criterion for assessing potential fire hazard in use.
Buyers should confirm the product construction, fibre and backing, tested face, substrate, fixing method, joint conditions and local project requirements before relying on a fire classification. The report does not replace building regulations, fire approval or the project engineer's judgement.

Dynamic Friction: Why Surface Grip Is Measured
BS EN 13893 covers measurement of the dynamic coefficient of friction on dry resilient, laminate and textile floor surfaces. In the provided report, two leather soles and one rubber sole were attached to a GMG 100 appliance and pulled over the sample at constant speed. The coefficient was calculated by dividing the horizontal force by the vertical force.[7]
The tested sample was described as an Axminster Carpet, 80% wool and 20% Nylon 66, 7*12. Under BS EN 13893:2002 (2018), the three warp readings were 0.50, 0.50 and 0.49, giving a reported mean of 0.50. The three weft readings were 0.52, 0.52 and 0.52, giving a reported mean of 0.52.

The report provides measured dynamic-friction values. It does not state a universal pass/fail result for every project. The specific dynamic-friction test is marked with three asterisks, which the report defines as not UKAS accredited. The presence of a UKAS mark for the laboratory must not be rewritten as a UKAS-accredited result for this particular test.
The measured data may support project evaluation, subject to the applicable specification, surface condition, installation and local requirements. It is not a guarantee that nobody will slip and should not be marketed as "completely slip-proof" or as passing every European slip requirement.

Will the Colour Last? Understanding ISO 105 Tests
A printed carpet may look excellent when it leaves the factory, but buyers also need to know how the colour responds to light, water and rubbing. The available Intertek report covers one tested sample declared as a brown 100% nylon rug, without flame-retardant finishing.
For light exposure, ISO 105-B02:2014 uses a xenon-arc light source representative of daylight. The tested brown and light-brown areas were both reported at Grade 4. The report marked the light test with "# = No Comment", so it did not provide a pass/fail or commercial-acceptability conclusion for that item.[8]
For water, ISO 105-E01:2013 determines resistance to immersion in water. The tested sample recorded Grade 4-5 for colour change and Grade 4-5 staining on acetate, cotton, nylon, polyester, acrylic and wool. Intertek marked the water result "M = Commercially Acceptable".[9]
For rubbing, ISO 105-X12:2016 covers resistance to rubbing off and staining other materials, using dry and wet rubbing cloths. The tested sample recorded Grade 4-5 for dry rubbing and Grade 4 for wet rubbing. Intertek marked the rubbing result "M = Commercially Acceptable".[10]

Higher grades generally indicate less visible colour change or staining under the specified test conditions. They do not mean "never fades", "waterproof colour" or unlimited suitability for sunlight. These results relate to the tested sample, colour and construction. Different fibres, dyes, shades and finishes may produce different results.
